c.1950 Arnold, No.3300 Primat Convertible in Original Box

Outstanding example of the Primat lithographed tinplate convertible manufactured by Arnold. Marked "Made In Western Germany" it features a tethered coil spring remote control and original hand painted composition driver and passenger. It comes complete with its original box with insert.

The Primat was a "mythical" vehicle based on several popular automobiles from the late 1940's and early 1950's. It has a dark teal colored body and gold chassis. The sleek design includes sloping rear end, long wide front hood, wrap around "checkered" front bumper, whitewall tires and an open windshield frame. It also includes a large embossed chromed hood divider, side molding, chrome headlamp frames, chromed rear bumper, taillights, license plate holder, and dish style hub caps.

The Primat scripted chrome logo appears on the front, left and right fenders and the rear trunk. It has a solid, embossed single plate chassis and solid rubber tires. The steering wheel is plastic with knurled finger-grips.

The driver and passenger are made from hand painted composition material. The two figures represent the modern sports car enthusiast with cap and sunglasses. The woman passenger wears a long brown coat trimmed in black and matching hat. The detail on both figures is amazing!

The tethered remote control is all metal and features Arnold's patented coil design. The plunger steers the car, while the crank moves the wheels forward or reverse. Everything works!

The box features European styling with large single panel hand illustrated drawings. In fact the cover drawing has a facsimile artist's signature in the lower right corner. One of the endflaps shows it gassing up at a Shell filling station. One of the side panels include directions for operating the vehicle. It still has its original $2.88 cent price sticker on one end. The correct No. 3300 is stamped onto the same endflap. The insert is the first I've found for this model.

Size: 10". The tether including handle are nearly 4 ft. long.
